The Golden Cricket Cage of Khan is the sixth episode of Legends of the Hidden Temple. It was the fourth episode to complete production and the thirty-ninth to air. Moat CrossingOne partner from each team had an "Aztec footboard". When Kirk said go, the first partner of each team paddled across the moat. Once across, they climbed out onto the other side. That was the signal for the second partner to pull the footboard back to the other side, jump on, grab the rope, swing the footboard into the water, and pull themselves across the Moat. When the second teammate reached the other side, it was his job to hit the gong.
Steps of KnowledgeWhen he was seventeen, a famous Italian explorer traveled from Venice and along the legendary Silk Road to China. He was Marco Polo. Along the way, he rode camels through burning deserts, giant sandstorms, and through the icy mountains. After he arrived in China, Marco was invited to dinner at the palace of the emperor Kublai Khan. Marco was very impressed with Kublai Khan's court, and the Khan was very impressed with Marco's bravery and intelligence. They quickly became friends, and Khan gave Marco many gifts, including ivory, jade, silk and some say a very special pet cricket cage made of gold. On the journey back to Venice, he was robbed by bandits and lost everything, including the golden cricket cage.
Temple GamesThe Purple Parrots are thirteen-year-old Michelle and twelve-year-old Mike. The Silver Snakes are eleven-year-old Tia Thomas and thirteen-year-old John Sajeski. Travel the Silk Road (Dragon Tunnel)The Silk Road was a long, tortuous trade route which snaked through the deserts and mountains from Europe to the Far East. Many who traveled it never returned, but those who did brought back the silk and spices of the Orient which made them wealthy. In this game, each player's task was to snake through the "Silk Road", grab a piece of silk on the other end, inch back through, and carry the silk back to the beginning. The first player to do this in one minute won. Michelle beat John, pulling the silk back in 30 seconds. Giant Cricket Cages (Peanut Shaft)In China, children used to keep crickets in miniature cages, but at the hidden temple, their crickets grow just a bit larger, which was why they had two giant cricket cages. The players grabbed a cricket from the bottom of the "cage", climbed up, and placed the cricket in the bin at the top. Then, they climbed back down, and grabbed the next cricket. The first player with five crickets in the bin - or the player with the most after one minute - won. Although Tia was somewhat leading, Mike was able to place his fourth cricket before she could place her fifth as time expired, causing both players to get a half-pendant. More Spices for China (Bungee Soap Line)Europe had never seen spices like the ones Marco Polo brought back from the Orient. And soon, he had to bring in more and more just to keep everyone happy. Fortunately for the players, that trip to China was a little shorter than it was for Marco Polo. One player from each team started with a bag of spice. When Kirk said "go", both partners pulled themselves to the center. When they got there, one passed the spice bag to her partner; then, they both slid back to their respective starting points. The first partner grabbed another spice bag while the second partner dumped his spice bag into the bucket. Both players then pulled themselves toward the center and repeated the process. The team with the most spice bags in their bucket at the end of one minute won. The Silver Snakes barely won the game after getting four bags in their bin over the Purple Parrots, who only gotten three bags.
Temple RunJohn went into the temple first. Starting out by going into The Cave of Sighs, John nearly went into the area where the contestant come out from backstage before truly making his way into The Cave of Sighs. While in there, John got confused on where the door was and looked from side to side of the cave. Eventually, John found one and opened up the upper crawl tube door and headed into The Pit of Despair. In the pit, John decided to take the direct route, by continuing along the bottom floor and into The Throne Room where he met the first temple guard just as he was about to sit down on the throne. After giving up his pendant, John properly sat on the throne and unsurprisingly, the door to The Spider's Lair did not open. Confused on what to do, John did not try to enter The Heart Room and instead decided to retreat to The Cave of Sighs using the lower crawl tube! Realizing his mistake, John returned back into The Throne Room and eventually climbed up into The Heart Room where he was caught by the second temple guard and was taken out of the temple with 1:41 left on the clock. Now it was Tia's turn to try her luck. Following John's path, Tia made it into The Heart Room with 1:08 left on the clock. However, when she tried to open the door to The Room of the Golden Idols, the door did not open. (While its somewhat hard to tell due to the camera angle, it's possible she only pressed the door rather than the actuator). But regardless, Tia spent several second hitting the actuator to The Throne Room and looking around on where to go. And instead of her attempting to climb up the ladder to unlock the door to The Observatory, Tia instead backtracked to the Wall Climb! Despite Kirk telling her that she's heading back where she came from, Tia started to make extremely questionable decisions from that point onwards. After listening to Kirk, she strangely started climbing out of the crawl tube between The Pit of Despair and The Heart Room! Not only that, but she also then decided to head back down into The Throne Room where she sat down on the throne hoping another door will open. Finally, she decided to get out of The Throne Room where she spent the rest of the remaining time trying to climb up the ropes within The Pit of Despair in order to get back into The Heart Room. Never bothering to try to open the door leading to The Observatory.
