Steps of Knowledge

Having already sailed three-fourths of the way around the world, the great Spanish explorer Ferdinand Magellan was writing in his secret log when the cabin boy knocked.

"You're needed on the deck, captain," he said.

The men were already assembled.

"Captain." Said the first mate. "We want to return to Spain. It has been 3 1/2 months since we last saw land, we have no fresh water, and we've been eating rats, leather, and even sawdust to survive."

Magellan placed one hand on his pistol and the other on his sword.

"Return to your posts," he said, "or I'll have you thrown in the brig for mutiny!"

Suddenly, the lookout shouted, "Land! Land ho!"

Overjoyed, everyone ran to the rail of the ship and saw the Philippine Islands in the distance. Unfortunately, while on the islands, Magellan was killed, and the men had to finish the last leg of the journey themselves. Legend has it the first mate stole Magellan's log book, and it ended up in the Temple.

The Orange Iguanas are eleven-year-old Jennifer, who likes rollerblading and singing (favorite song is Weak" by SWV), and Charles (also eleven years old), who is a nose guard on a football team. The Blue Barracudas are eleven-year-old Jessica, who loves music (favorite artist is SWV - something she has in common with Jennifer), and thirteen-year-old Robert, who plays soccer.

Spice Grab (Bungee Soap Ramp)[]

Long ago, Europe craved spices from the Orient. One of Magellan's goals was to find a short route to the East so the spices could be brought back faster. At the top of the ramp were several spice bags. When Kirk gave the signal, Jessica and Jennifer had to climb up the ramp on their knees, grabbed a bags of spice, slid on back down, and dumped the spice into their buckets. They had 60 seconds. The first team to get all their spice bags or the team with the most spices won. Jessica had too much trouble and was unable to bring down any spice bags, while Jennifer brought down two, earning Jennifer the half pendant of life.

Four Corners of the Earth (Bungee Soap Mat)[]

Magellan sailed to the four corners of the Earth, but Robert and Charles did not have to go that far. Before them were four corners of the Earth. When Kirk gave the signal, each player had to grab a ship and took it to one of their two corners. They had to place the ships on their corners, then went back to the center, grabbed another ship and then did it again. The first person to place three ships on each of his corners or the person furthest along in 60 seconds won. Robert managed to placed his sixth ship before Charles, earning the Blue Barracudas the half pendant of life.

Crow's Nest (Pulley Pillar)[]

Old sailing ships had a lookout platform on the mast called a crow's nest. But after months at sea, these crows can get a little out of hand, and that's when you have to just clear them out. When Kirk gave the signal, one player from each team had to jump up, grab the first crow out of the crow's nest, and then they had to jump back down and put it in their buckets. Then their partners jumped up, grabbed the next one, and came back down. They had to alternate like that for up to 60 seconds. The team with the most crows in their baskets when time was up won. The Blue Barracudas won the game and the full pendant of life after placing eight crows in their bucket Orange Iguanas while the only placed six crows in their bucket, sending the former team to Olmec's Temple with 1½ pendants.

Temple Run

Robert went into the temple first, moving at a fast pace. Starting off by making his way into The Cave of Sighs, he opened up the lower crawl tube and went into The Pit of Despair. Choosing to stick to the bottom level, Robert then opened up the door to The Room of Harmonic Convergence, where he met the first Temple Guard, in just twenty-one seconds.

However, after Robert handed over his Pendant of Life and tried all five step combinations in the room, no doors opened. He tried to pry open both the door to The Swamp and The Heart Room, but both doors still remained lock. After realizing that the room was a complete dead-end, Robert quickly backtracked and instead climbed up The Wall Climb and unlocked the door to the Heart Room. But just as Robert opened up the door to The Treasure Room and started making his way through the crawl tube, the second Temple Guard jumped out and captured him. Thus, taking him out of the temple with 1:58 remaining.

Jessica went next, moving at a moderately fast pace. Following along her partner's original path, Jessica decided to go into The Room of the Harmonic Convergence to see if she can enter The Heart Room from there. (Even though it was confirmed it was a dead end already). After finding out she couldn't advance any further than that, Jessica headed back to The Pit of Despair and climbed up to The Heart Room from The Wall Climb. Continuing her way into The Treasure Room, Jessica quickly ran and opened the door leading to The Shrine of the Silver Monkey. In the shrine, despite Jessica having no problems grabbing the pieces of the monkey, nor having problems assembling it, she did not realize that the head had to be pushed down further in order for the doors to open up. After Kirk shouted for her to do so, Jessica did not do so immediately, but she eventually turn back and pushed down on the head, which finally opened up the door leading to The Pirate's Cove

Temple Guard #3

Now being one room away from the Lost Logbooks, the only thing left for Jessica to do is to turn the wheel, and she can descend into The Dungeon and grab the logbooks. But before she could do anything in the room, the third and final Temple Guard jumped out and captured Jessica. Sadly, taking her out of the temple with a mere eighteen seconds to go and resulting in a triple seizure.
