Moat CrossingIn this Moat, teams have to progress from giant inflatable lily-pad to giant inflatable lily-pad using a wooden plank. Both players must cross before the team hits their gong.
Steps of KnowledgeOne of the brightest literary talents of the early 1800's was a beautiful English woman named Mary Shelley. She wrote the classic horror novel Frankenstein. Her friends were aghast. "How can such a lovely creature create such a horrifying monster?" Legend has it that perhaps she didn't create it. One night, seeking refuge from a storm, Mary entered a dark forboden tavern. Moments later, a hulking shadowed figure sat down next to her. "Beware." "Where, be where?" "No, no, you don't understand me." Mary shivered as his hideous voice rasped out the story of a horrible monster that had terrorized a small German village. "He was brought back from the dead by an evil doctor, a former pediatrician from Bavaria." From his ragged coat, he drew out an old and yellowing manuscript. "But another monster will never be created, for now you hold the secret. Guard it well." Lightning flashed and Mary caught a glimpse at a horribly scarred face. Then the hulking figure strolled away into the night. Her heart raced as she read the cover. "The Secrets of Life and Death by Victor Frankenstein." Shelley wrote her novel, but kept the secret diary hidden away until it eventually made its way to the Temple.
Temple GamesThe Blue Barracudas are Kate, who rollerblades and wants to be a brain surgeon, and Larry, who plays basketball and plays in a band. The Silver Snakes are Ashlee, who studies ballet and is drama club president, and Clyde, who plays football and is in the Boy Scouts. Six Chapters of "Frankenstein" (Pop-Up Tunnel)[]Good novels do not come easily, even to authors like Mary Shelley; scattered throughout the table were hidden chapters one through six of Frankenstein. When Kirk gave the signal, Ashlee and Kate would pop through one of the holes to find the first chapter, then come back to the starting point and place it in its proper position on the board, and whoever got all six by the end of 60 seconds would win. Ashlee and Kate tied with 2 chapters each, awarding both teams a half-Pendant. Frankenstein's Electricity (Spinning Platforms)[]According to legend, Victor Frankenstein brought the monster to life by jolting him with a charge of electricity; here, Clyde and Larry would have to generate that electricity for the doctor. When Kirk gave the signal, they would spin the wheel as many times as possible, and whoever created the most electrical charges in 60 seconds would win. This game started off close, but Larry was a tad quicker than Clyde; he ultimately won 13-12, raising the Blue Barracudas' score to one full Pendant. Ring around the Monster (Rubber Ring Toss)[]Like the frightened villagers in Frankenstein, the teams must try to capture the monster; when Kirk gave the signal, Clyde and Kate would throw a ring up to Ashlee and Larry, who would fly over to the monster and drop it on him before retreating. The team that got all six rings onto the monster within 60 seconds would win; the Blue Barracudas won with 18 seconds remaining, giving them two Pendants to the Silver Snakes' half-Pendant (they only had 4 rings around the monster).
Temple RunThe very energetic Kate went into the temple first, moving at a moderately fast pace. She started off by heading up into The Crypt, where she stopped for a few seconds each time after pulling the books from the skeletons. (Mainly because she expected the door to The Ledges would open and was prepared to go down if necessary). After pulling the third and final book, the door to The Pit of the Pendulum opened up and Kate heads down there next. Grabbing onto the rope swing and tapping the column (which did knock it down), Kate jumps off the rope swing climbs up The Wall Climb. (Though she struggled for a bit while trying to get her grip and footing within the holes). Once back up on the platform, Kate had the choice to go either to The King's Storeroom, or The Chamber of the Sacred Markers, she decides to stay in the middle and heads into The Chamber next. In there, Kate had no problem putting up the markers on the wall, but after completing the objective, nothing opened! This led Kate to get slightly confused as where she had to go next, turns out, the first temple guard wanted to prepare the unexpected because after a few second delay, the door to The King's Storeroom opened up, revealing the guard, and slightly startling Kate in the process. (What a unexpecting twist!). After giving up her pendant, Kate gets a little advice from the guard who points for her to go up the ladder to The King's Storeroom, to which she did as she was confused at first on where to go next. Once in there, Kate aggressively smashed all the pots and found the key within the third pot she found and was able to unlock the door to The Room of the Ancient Warriors after trying her second pedestal. Still with a good amount of time left, Kate tries the armor on the left first, but it didn't work. But after trying the middle armor next, she was able to get to The Shrine of the Silver Monkey with 1:20 left on the clock. Now being right above The Dark Forest, and with Kate moving at a good pace, she can definitely grab the manuscript in time if the door to The Dark Forest opens up next. But in a similar fashion to the first guard, the second temple guard wanted to perfect a good jumpscare. Because after Kate grabs the head and the middle piece and places it on the pedestal, the second guard finally reveals himself and captures Kate with 1:12 left. Thus, removing her from the temple. Now it was Larry's turn to enter the temple and try his luck. Moving at a moderate to slow pace, Larry carefully goes through every room in the temple in order to make sure he doesn't fall or trip. (Though it was costing him some significant time because of this). Luckily, Larry made a smart move by deciding to head up into The King's Storeroom from The Pit of the Pendulum to save some time. But even after doing so, Larry still slowly moved through the temple, even with Kirk encouraging him to go quicker. Eventually, he makes it to The Shrine of the Silver Monkey with 39 seconds left. And while a victory would not be guaranteed, Larry can definitely make it the manuscript on time if he gets lucky. But in one of the strangest, surprising, and craziest moments with Legends history is that Larry had a tough time assembling the monkey! After grabbing all three pieces, Larry placed the base backwards, the middle piece was upside-down and even attempted to jam the head in reverse! Looks like Victor Frankenstein definitely taught him well, but for this occasion, it wasn't about making a frightful creature but assembling the iconic monkey statue. Unfortunately, even after realizing his mistake, Larry still had an incredibly tough time trying to assemble the monkey. While he did get the base put in properly, Larry still had the middle piece upside-down, and no matter how hard he tried to fix it and even jamming the head in, nothing worked. In the end, Larry was not able to fix the mistake, and he spent the rest of the time in The Shrine, with a little monkey Frankenstein creature, and sadly being one room away from the manuscript in another heartbreaking ending. But even with such a bummer lost, Kate was no-where near upset and even complimented Larry's little creature and gave a little thumbs up and a cheer before helping Kirk sign off the episode. It was unfortunate that things ended the way things did. Many players have faced the difficulties on assembling the monkey despite it only being three pieces, but it was unfortunate luck that occurred that led to the lost. And while it was heartbreaking to see things unfold like this, especially for Larry, but the iconic ending that occurred does make this temple run an interesting/memorable run.
