The Mystical Spellbook of the Imperial Wizard is the 94th episode of Legends of the Hidden Temple. It was also the 94th episode to be aired. Moat Crossing The teams had to use a rope to swing out to a suspended cargo net, then climb over that and wade through the rest of the Moat, one player at a time.
Steps of KnowledgeOne of the greatest rulers of ancient China was Emperor Wu Ti. He loved the arts, and shadow theater was created for him. Legend has it that Wu Ti's wife, Ling Ling, passed away suddenly, and the distraught emperor summoned his wizard. "You must use your magical powers to return my wife to me!" "But that's impossible! Besides, you could marry any woman in the land! Here's Ring Ling, she's lovely! Here's Wing Ding, she's darling!" "I want Ling Ling! Return her to me within twenty-four hours or I'll do away with you!" The terrified wizard returned to his cave and consulted his mystical spellbook. "Now let's see… Spells to make boils… Spells to cure boils… Children into chickens' feet… Nope, no cure for death." But the crafty wizard came up with a plan. "Wizard, your time is up! Where is my wife?" "Here, my lord, behind this screen." The lights were dimmed, and the shadow of a beautiful woman appeared on the screen. "Ling Ling!" It wasn't really Ling Ling, but the emperor was comforted nonetheless— so much, in fact, he promoted the wizard to Grand Vizier, a cushy desk job. His spellbook ended up in the Temple.
Temple GamesThe Green Monkeys are Katie, who plays soccer and wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up, and Jared, whose favorite subject is science and wants to become a pro basketball player. The Silver Snakes are Larissa, who plays baseball and wants to be an actress, and Mike, who likes to swim and wants to be an astronaut. Coded Path to the Wizard's Cave (Sinking Steps)[]The Imperial Wizard's cave was hidden in one of the bamboo forests that covered most of Ancient China. Before the players stood a thicket of bamboo. When Kirk gave the signal, they chose a bamboo tree and stepped onto it. If its roots sank into the ground, they had to return to the start and tried a different path. Otherwise, they had to continue on to another tree. The first player to cross the bamboo forest, or the player that was furthest along at the end of 60 seconds, won. At the :39 mark, Katie took her foot off the platform in front of her just as she realized it was going to sink, but she still had to restart… hitting her shins against the starting platform as she tried to jump onto it. Nevertheless, a mistake by "Jared" on the last step meant that Katie made it across and won with four seconds remaining. Magical Ingredients (Cubbyhole Web)[]  Every wizard's spell requires certain mystical, and often horrible, ingredients. The spell the players made is no exception. Before each player stood a giant spider web. Beyond the web hung six magical ingredients. When Kirk gave the signal, they scrambled up the web and grabbed the first ingredient, brought it back down and dropped it in the cauldron. Then, they did it again. The first player to gather all six ingredients of the spell, or the most ingredients in their cauldron at the end of 60 seconds, won. Almost immediately, Larissa dropped her first item behind the net; Jared was faster in collecting his items, but the sixth and final ingredient he had to collect fell behind the net as well; it was ruled that they could collect the ingredients that fell behind the net last, so ultimately it came down to whoever could run around the net fastest to grab the item. Predictably, Jared managed to get his last ingredient in the bin first with four seconds left, with Kirk admitting he made it look dramatic. Either way, the Green Monkeys, now had one pendant, while the Silver Snakes had yet to score. Shadow Theater Screen (Big "E" Wall)[]To console the emperor, the Wizard's cast the shadow of Ling Ling on the screen. Just as Ling Ling had her shadow, the teams shadowed each other. They were linked together through an imperial screen. When Kirk gave the signal, they climbed along the wall and maneuvered until they reached the hole in the screen, then the partner can pass through. The first team to be reunited, or the team that's further along at the end of 60 seconds, won. Both teams had their share of difficulty with this one, but the Green Monkeys managed to make it through the turns a bit faster. They made it out with nine seconds left, while the Silver Snakes had one more U-bend to travel through to the finish. As a result, the Green Monkeys completely shut out the Silver Snakes and were going to go to the Temple with two full Pendants of Life.
Temple RunJared went into the temple first, moving at a great pace. He started off by heading up into The Crypt, but after pulling all three books from the skeletons, the only door that unlocked was the door that will take him down into The Ledges. Climbing down the ladder and crawling through the caverns, Jared heads down and opens up the lower crawl tube to enter The Pit of the Pendulum. Since he was already at the bottom of the pit, Jared made a smart decision to not climb up The Wall Climb to the rope swing and to instead push the column down with his hands. While he stumbled a bit while making it to the column, Jared pushes it down and unlocks some of the doors in The Pit of the Pendulum. Unfortunately, Jared had to climb up the platforms as the doors to The King's Storeroom and The Chamber of the Sacred Markers were the only doors that opened up. Climbing up the wall climb at a good pace; Jared makes it back up and decides to head into The King's Storeroom next. Up there, Jared smashes all three pots in order to find the key and ends up having to try all three pedestals in order to continue onwards. (Three times a charm it seems). Now moving down into The Room of the Ancient Warriors, Jared tries the armor on the right first but was caught by the first temple guard in the process. But luckily, this was the armor that allowed him to continue to the next room. After giving up his pendant, Jared moves into The Shrine of the Silver Monkey where he assembles the monkey statue with no problem and at a fast pace. (14 seconds in fact). Once the statue was completed, the doors to The Quicksand Bog and The Dark Forest were opened. However, Jared didn't take notice of the door to The Quicksand Bog and headed down to The Dark Forest instead. Unfortunately, when he entered there, Jared got confused on what to do as he scrambled around the room trying to figure out the room's objective. Once Kirk told him to find the key within the trees, Jared does so. But this move was a massive mistake as he didn't need to do that at all. And even after finding the key, Jared made a fruitless attempt going around in circles to use the key on doors that were already opened. Luckily, it didn't take Jared long to realize that he had plow through The Stone Wall. But upon climbing into The Quicksand Bog, the second temple guard emerged from the rubble and captures Jared with 45 seconds left. Sadly, taking him out of the temple with him being one room away from the mystical spellbook. Now it was Katie's turn to try her luck. Moving at the same pace as Jared, she follows the same direct path that Jared went through. (Even though she could have saved time by not entering The Crypt). Having no problem going through every obstacle or slowing down in any room within the temple, Katie definitely had the potential to possibly get to The Room of the Secret Password and grab the spellbook in time. (Even with such little time). And while Katie did make a smart move by heading into The Quicksand Bog through The Shrine of the Silver Monkey. In the end, Katie couldn't make it to The Room of the Secret Password on time, as time expired shortly before she could climb The Pharaoh's Secret Passage. While both players proved to be fast runners and shown to navigate and complete the objectives without issues. But had Jared enter The Quicksand Bog from The Shrine of the Silver Monkey, Katie would have had more time to go through the temple and had a better opportunity to get to the spellbook on time. (Though a win would have been a "maybe" depending on how quick it was for the guard to capture Jared). But at the same time, had Katie not gone through The Crypt and instead head directly for The Ledges, she would have saved a bit more time to climb up the slide. Regardless, the two still did a great job in the temple besides the silly mistakes and the harsh placement of the temple guards.
