The Nyanga Legend of Mwindo (a.k.a. The Magic Flyswatter Conga Scepter of Mwindo) is the fourth episode of the reboot version and the 124th episode overall of Legends of the Hidden Temple.

Storyline

This legend comes from the Nyanga people of the Republic of Congo in a village called Tubondo. A young chief named Shemwindo resists taking a wife for fear he may have a son who could dethrone him. Under pressure from his tribe, Shemwindo agrees to marry seven brides in a massive wedding. After binging banana beer, the paranoid chief warns his wives—

"I will personally kill any son you bear."

Six of them birth daughters, but the seventh, his favorite, Nyamwindo delivers a boy and names him "Mwindo". Shemwindo sets out to murder his own son. His first two attempts fail, so he puts the baby inside a drum, seals it, and tosses him into the river to be eaten by deadly serpents. But baby Mwindo, born with many magical possessions, including a flyswatter conga scepter, staves off the serpents and cheats death again. The drum floats past a neighboring village, where his aunt, Iyangura, hears him singing. She cuts Mwindo free and raises him as her own until the day he amasses a huge army to seek revenge for what his evil father did to him.

Moat Crossing

Like Mwindo, you must survive the perils of the river inside a drum while collecting four magical possessions. On Cristela's signal, climb into those drums and swim them to the first platform. Remove the coverings to reveal the name of three of Mwindo's possessions. Find them floating in the moat and take them and your drums to the second platform, where you encounter a deadly serpent. Grab the fourth possession, a magic axe, and chop off the serpent's head. Take all four magical possessions and exit the moat, placing the serpent's head on a spike in victory. The first three teams to collect the magical possessions, slay the serpent, and hit their gong… continue on their quest. The last team is out.

Steps of Knowledge

Mwindo grows into Shemwindo's worst nightmare, an angry son with an army. Mwindo calls on his friend Nkuba, god of lightning.

"Help me kill my father by burning down Tubondo."

"Shemwindo is a bad dude, but everyone in Tubondo is your cousin. Shall I kill them, too?"

"I got that covered."

Nkuba summons seven lightning bolts and burns Tubondo to the ground, killing everyone except Shemwindo, who escapes to the Underworld. True to his word, Mwindo whips out his magic flyswatter conga scepter and swats his dead cousins in the face. The scepter has the power to bring them all back to life. Relieved to be rid of Shemwindo, all of Tubondo join Mwindo's growing army and follow him to the Underworld to finally kill his father. Lucky for Mwindo, he meets the goddess of luck, Kahindo, daughter of the king of the Underworld who tells him that her horrible father is conspiring with Mwindo's horrible father to kill him. She warns him of her father's false hospitality, saying that when her father offers banana beer, do not drink it. It's urine. If he offers banana paste, do not eat it. It's feces. Both will kill him. Mwindo confronts the king Muisa.

"Hey, Muisa, seen Shemwindo down here?"

"Let me take you to him, but first, you must be thirsty and hungry. Let us feast on banana beer and banana paste."

"How did you know?"

Mwindo slips both of them under the table to a hungry dog. After many trials, it is clear Muisa is not revealing Shemwindo's location. Mwindo summons Nkuba again, who kills the king with a single lightning bolt. And Mwindo takes things to a higher authority, the sky god, Sheburungu.

Mwindo's Conduct (Head-to-Head)[]

In this game, one of you is the lightning god, Nkuba, killing the people of Tubondo. The other is Mwindo, bringing them back to life. When Cristela gives the signal, Nkuba, grab the magic rope and fling a lightning bolt at one of Mwindo's three cousins, knocking them to the ground. Then, Mwindo, you resurrect them by swatting them in the face with your flyswatter conga scepter, knocking all of the flies off in the process. When the flies are gone, take your cousin over to join your army. Once all three cousins are killed and revived, take your army to the entrance to the Underworld at the base of my temple, and you may hit your gong. The first team to kill and revive the cousins, get your army to the Underworld, and hit your gong wins.

Mwindo vs. Sheburungu (Time Trial)[]

Mwindo goes to Sheburungu, the sky god, who knows where his father is hiding, but he insists on wagering the location on a game. If Mwindo wins, the location is his. But lose, and everything Mwindo owns, including his magical possessions, belongs to Sheburungu.

You are playing that game with everything on the line. You are Mwindo. Stand behind the mountain while Sheburungu hides that crown under one of those baskets, signifying his location. When Cristela gives the signal, find that crown, grab one of those boulders, and throw it over the chute so it rolls to your teammate, who may use it to knock over the baskets and reveal the crown. Then you may hit your gong and stop the clock. The team that uncovers the crown and hits their gong the fastest wins.

Tiebreaker[]

Olmec: "What village does Mwindo return to with his army?" Kwaku rings in and correctly answers Tubondo, sending him and Tyler to Olmec's Temple in search of the flyswatter conga scepter.

The End of the Story

Mwindo finds his father hiding in a cave, but instead of killing him on the spot, he pardons him with two conditions.

"Denounce your 'no sons' policy immediately and allow me to rule over Tubondo."

Shemwindo agrees. Upon their return, Mwindo commissions three royal thrones. The one in the middle is where he will rule, his magic flyswatter conga scepter at his side. The one to his right is for his Aunt Iyangura, and the one to his left, for Shemwindo, the father, forever sentenced to watch his son rule as a far better chief than he for the rest of his days.

Temple Run

Tyler entered first and took the middle door in the Crystal Cenote to the Spider's Lair and the Room of the Beloved. It wasn't until he reached the Shrine of the Silver Monkey that he ultimately decided the run's fate. While assembling the monkey, he put the middle section on upside down and despite warnings from Cristella and Kwaku, he couldn't fix it. Eventually Tyler figured out the issue and solved the monkey but by then, he only had 2:00 left. He entered the Steamy Hallows where a Temple Guard took his pendant but he managed to solve the riddle and leaped off the ledge into the Queen's Armory. After dressing the Queen, he jumped into the Quicksand Bog and broke through the wall into the Dark Forest only to be caught by a second Temple Guard with 0:33 remaining.

Kwaku struggled up the Crystal Cenote and when he entered the Spider's Lair, he immediately became lost. He wandered through the passageways until time eventually ran out.
