The Tiebreaker is a means of deciding which one of the last two competing teams goes to the Temple. It is played after the Temple Games if both teams have the same number of pendants. In Season 1, Kirk will ask a tiebreaker question, but in Seasons 2 and 3, Olmec will ask one final Steps of Knowledge question. If a team hits their gong, they have three seconds to answer. In Season 1, if they are wrong or run out of time, the other team goes to the Temple, but in Seasons 2 and and 3, if they are wrong or run out of time, the other team has a chance to answer.

Trivia

  • In some episodes like The Ivory Elephant of Scheherazade, the tiebreaker can be seen without it being used.
  • In the original series, none of its 24 tiebreaker episodes had teams each winning two pendants from the Temple Games, as 15 of them were for one pendant and nine were for 1½ pendants.
  • In the reboot series, even if the teams win only one pendant from the Temple Games, during the tiebreaker, the winning team always has two pendants.
  • The Green Monkeys and Orange Iguanas are tied for having won the most tiebreakers, with six each.
  • The Purple Parrots have won the fewest tiebreakers, with three.
